Obituary

Lauren Peele Reynolds was born on November 21, 1980, in Charleston,SC. She was received into the loving arms of Jesus on August 8, 2016. Lauren was the adoring mother to her son, Hays, whom she loved deeply.

Lauren graduated from Hammond School. From the time she was a little girl, she possessed the skill and determination to dominate almost any sport. Daily practice with her brother, Rob, and neighborhood friend, Andy Folsom, on the courts of Glenwood prepared her to become a star on the courts at Hammond. She could hang with any boy during a one-on-one and still look beautiful doing it.

While attending Hammond, she was selected for Girls' State, elected president of the National Honor Society and was the recipient of numerous athletic and academic awards. Lauren was also recognized by The State Newspaper as the SCISA Girl's Basketball and Volleyball Player of the Year.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from the University of South Carolina where she was a member and Standards Chair of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority. She spent most of her professional career in hospice sales where she was known for her compassion, poise and contagious smile as she brought comfort to those dealing with pain and illness.

Lauren also had a genuinely beautiful heart as evidenced by the many friends she made in every place she touched. She will be remembered by her family and all that loved her as a beautiful woman with a twinkle in her eye who also loved hard, played hard and fought hard.

Lauren was predeceased by her paternal grandparents, Robert M. and Rosa Lee Peele of Davidson, NC, and maternal grandfather, Harold B. Oliver of Columbia.

She is survived by her precious son, Edward Hays Reynolds V; her loving and devoted parents, Dr. and Mrs. Robert (Nancy) Peele, Jr. of Columbia; brother and sister- in-law, Rob and Casey Peele of Columbia; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Mitch Fairfield of Charleston; sister, Callie Peele of Columbia; nephews and niece, Bobby, Carter, Cal and Meyer Rose, who lovingly refer to her as "Ya Ya" and who will miss her greatly; grandmother, Catherine B. Oliver of Columbia; maternal aunts and uncles, Patsy and Pat Towery, and Donna and Danny Hill, all of Columbia; and her Columbia, Greenville, and Charleston cousins. She remained close to her lifelong friends, Pierrine Todd Thomas and Anna McCutchen Shuford; and she relied upon and confided in her second Mama, Patti Barker.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 17, from 5 until 7 PM at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. The memorial service is scheduled for Thursday, August 18, at 11 AM, at The First Presbyterian Church, 1324 Marion Street, Columbia.
