LaVon Floyd Yandle, 91, of Columbia, died Tuesday, October 3, 2017. Born June 2, 1926 in Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Letha Brown Floyd Strickland and Luther Floyd. Mrs. Yandle started working at age 14, and graduated from Olympia High School. She was a loving and kind individual and possessed many talents to include dancing, gardening and sewing. Mrs. Yandle was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Survivors include her daughters, LaDonna Keller (John), TaWanna Branham (Dennis); grandchildren, Rhett Keller (Kristi), Barry Keller (Aimee), Holly Tesimale (Jeremy), TaMara Freeman (Matt), Shane Branham (Whitney), Blythe Church; eighteen great-grandchildren; and brother, Woody Strickland (Hallie); and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, C. A. "Red Eye" Yandle; granddaughter, Brook English Keller; brothers, Burrel Floyd and Everett Floyd.
A service will be held 2:30 o'clock, Saturday, October 7th, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Columbia Ward, 4440 Fort Jackson Blvd. with Bishop Barry Keller, and First Counselor Heath Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:30 in the Relief Society Room. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is in charge.
