Leamond Durwood Jefferson, 85, of Columbia, died Saturday, December 16, 2023. Born May 17, 1938, in Bedford, Ohio, he was a son of the late Leamond Lester and Gertude Leona Whitcomb Jefferson. Mr. Jefferson was a US Navy veteran who proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Prior to his retirement, he enjoyed a prosperous career as a machinist with Square D Manufacturing. Mr. Jefferson was a member of the VFW Post 641 in Columbia, where he enjoyed attending socials and dances.

Survivors include his stepsons, Jackie Kennth Ball (Maria) and Joel D. Ball (Rachelle); stepdaughter, Kathy Jane Denning (Tony); grandchildren, Kenneth Ball (Stella), Russell Carter (Janet), Nick Benton (Priscilla), Nikki Yates, Tim Branham, and Chaz Young (Kaitlyn); great grandchildren, Dillon Carter, Hunter Nichols, Brechtel Ball, Griffin Ball, Jackson Ball, and Cooper Ball. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Jefferson; brother, George W. Jefferson, and sister, Margaret Ann Morris.

The funeral service for Mr. Jefferson will be held at 1 o'clock, Thursday, December 21st at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, SC. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7600 Garners Ferry Road, Columbia, SC.

The family will greet friends at the funeral home beginning at 12 'clock.
