Obituary
Mr. Leon Melvin Baughman, Jr. affectionately known as Mel, 77, of Columbia, died on Monday, December 9, 2024. Born on February 5, 1947, in Aberdeen, Washington, he was the son of the late Leon Melvin Baughman, Sr. and the late Margaret Louise May Baughman.
Mr. Mel Baughman was a kindhearted man who loved all people. In his younger years, he was a part of the Southwinds band. In more recent years, he enjoyed playing many rounds of golf with friends.
He is survived by his daughters, Amber Baughman of Columbia, SC, and Margaret Sedlar of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Sophia Sedlar, Amelia Sedlar, and Jack Sedlar; and his nephew.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister, Kim Bagnal.
There are no formal services planned for Mr. Mel Baughman at this time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank, 2220 Shop Road, Columbia, SC 29201, in loving memory of Mr. Mel Baughman.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
