Obituary

Leone "Oney" Mae Smith Phillips, 89, of Lexington, SC, went to be with her heavenly Father on Friday, February 20, 2026. Born on April 8, 1936, in Muncy, Pennsylvania, she was a daughter of the late Admiral Raymond Smith and Georgia Murphy Smith. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Phillips was the owner of Three Fountains Skating Rink in West Columbia and the bookkeeper for All Climate Heating and Cooling in Lexington. She was a member of Springdale Baptist Church and attended Lake Murray Baptist Church when her health allowed. She enjoyed mountain trips, reading, and was an excellent seamstress.

She was the devoted wife of Mr. Albert "A.D." Daniel Phillips, and they were married for 69 years, seven months, and two days until his passing on December 8, 2024. They met as young adults at the skating rink and the rest was history.

Their legacy includes three children, Steven "Steve" Daniel Phillips (Debbie) of Chapin, Duston "Dusty" Howard Phillips, Sr. (Charisse) of Lexington, Laraine "Rainie" Phillips Wieder (Don) of Lexington; six grandchildren, Stephanie Ambrose (Ryan), Duston Phillips, Jr., Kyle Phillips, Avery Wieder (fiancé Kayley), Parker Wieder, Hayden Wieder, and a great grandchild, Adalyn Ambrose. Mrs. Phillips also leaves behind one sister as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters and two nephews.

The service honoring Mrs. Phillips life will be held at 3 o'clock, Tuesday, March 3rd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Chapel, Columbia, SC with Pastor David Bennett officiating. The family will receive guests following the service.

A private burial will be held at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens, 2603 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29204.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of First Light Home Care of Columbia and The Legacy Assisted Living of Lexington for their exceptional care of Mrs. Phillips.
