Lillian Williams Raines was born in Granite Falls, NC on March 31, 1933, and was a daughter of the late David and Julia Poovey Williams. After graduation from Lenoir-Rhyne College in Hickory, NC, she worked for MDI in Granite Falls, North Carolina. Soon after, she met and married the love of her life, Johnny L. Raines, Sr. Together they traveled to many different places due to Johnny's service in the United States Army. Once they retired, she settled with her family in Columbia, SC where she worked for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service (AAFES), for over 30 years. Subsequently, Mrs. Raines worked alongside her husband and family assisting countless individuals and businesses as a co-owner of Accu Tec Accounting and Tax Service. Mrs. Raines was a long-time member of Bayview Baptist Church and a devoted fan of South Carolina Gamecocks and the Atlanta Braves. Family was important to her, and she always enjoyed being together with them. In her spare time, Mrs. Raines could frequently be found attending ballgames, fishing, shopping and riding her Jet Ski on Lake Murray.
She and her husband had four children, Johnny Raines Jr., Jackie Raines-Figueroa, David Raines, and Carol Raines-Gurganious. She was a loving grandmother to Jeremiah Figueroa, Ashley Gurganious, Ryan Gurganious, Tyler Raines, Brent Raines.

The funeral service for Mrs. Raines will be held at 1:30 o'clock, Tuesday, July 22nd, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. A committal service will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o'clock, Monday evening at the funeral home.
