Lillie Glover McLeod, 89, of Columbia, died Friday, February 2, 2018. Born February 29, 1928 in Walterboro, SC, she was a daughter of the late Henry Stewart and Agnes Kearse Glover.
After receiving a degree in business from Columbia College, she was the Society Editor and Secretary to W. W. Smoak, Jr., of the Press and Standard newspaper in Walterboro. She was a member of College Place United Methodist Church, as well as the Leisure Club, McLeod Guilds Class, Morning Love Circle, and Afternoon Chapter of the Alumnae Club of Columbia College.
Survivors include daughters, Julia (Mark) Riley of Salt Lake City, UT, Mary Virginia (Marc Green) McLeod of Corvallis, OR; son, Thomas Rogers (Rosemary) McLeod of Spartanburg; grandchildren, Megan Marie McLeod (Chip) Pritchard, Alice Elizabeth (Chris) Bradley, Sarah Jane Riley, and Thomas Gordon McLeod Green; great grandchildren, Emma Madison McLeod, Lilly and James Pritchard, Atticus and Herschel Bradley; nieces, Nancy Glover Cash of Camden, Gloria (Frank) Hamilton of Beaufort, SC; nephew, Richard (Diane) Hiers of Greensboro, NC; and cousin, Jim Glover of Marietta, GA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas McLeod; brothers, Henry Stuart Glover, James S. Glover; and sister, Virginia Glover Hiers.
The graveside service for Mrs. McLeod will be held 12 o'clock, Tuesday, February 6, 2018 at Elmwood Cemetery, 501 Elmwood Avenue, Columbia. The family will greet friends following the service. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
