Obituary
Linda F. Dukes, 79, of Columbia, died on Monday, June 28, 2021. Born on November 24, 1941, in Chattanooga, TN, she was a daughter of the late Gordon Powell and Thelma Smith Powell.
A member of Shandon Baptist Church, Ms. Linda was strong in her faith. Before joining Shandon Baptist Church a decade ago, she was a member of Lexington Baptist Church. Ms. Linda was a people person, always offering a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Family was extremely important to her; especially when she became "Nana" to grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Tina Chambers (Lee), Tracey Anderson (Greg); grandchildren, Kristina Chambers, Ashley, Matthew, and Adam Anderson; sister, Mary Joyce Toomey; along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ray Powell.
A memorial service for Ms. Linda will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, July 3, 2021, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, with The Rev. Dennis A. Banks officiating. The family will greet friends Friday, July 2, 2021, at the funeral home from 5 until 7 o'clock.
