Linda Audrey Edwards, 80, of Columbia, died on Tuesday, July 7, 2026. Born on April 28, 1946, in East Orange, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late George and Audrey Alford. Linda proudly served her country in the United States Air Force with unwavering dedication, compassion, and courage. As a flight nurse during the Vietnam War, she cared for wounded service members with extraordinary skill and kindness, bringing comfort and hope during their most challenging moments. Through her exemplary service and leadership, she rose to the rank of Captain before retiring from a distinguished military career. It was during her years of service that she met her husband, Dallas. Together they embarked on a remarkable journey, sharing 56 years of marriage. As they served together in the Air Force, they built lifelong friendships within the military community and created a life filled with adventure, mutual respect, and lasting memories.
Surviving is her husband, Dallas Nathaniel Edwards, Jr. of Columbia; brothers, Gary Alford (Barbara) of St. Augustine, FL and Richard Alford (Natalie) of Lexington, VA; sister, Audrey Alford Wolfe (Cliff) of Succasunna, NJ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service to honor Linda’s life will be held at a later date.
