Linda Hollifield, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, in Elgin, South Carolina. Born on December 12, 1942, Linda’s life was a testament to kindness, faith, and dedication, qualities that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.
A graduate of Cowpens High School, Linda furthered her education by attending various technical colleges, cultivating skills that would serve her throughout a long and distinguished career. She retired from Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance where she diligently worked as a Coordinator for Retiree Benefits—a position that showcased her meticulous nature and desire to help others. Yet, beyond her professional accomplishments, Linda’s true pride lay in her family, which she loved deeply and unconditionally.
Linda was known for her warm and welcoming spirit, a reflection of her kind heart and generous nature. An active member of Spring Valley Baptist Church, her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found joy and fellowship in her Sunday School class, the Prayer and Praise Ladies group, where she nurtured relationships that enriched her soul. Her love for the Lord was evident in every aspect of her life, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times.
Her interests were as varied as they were heartfelt. Linda loved camping and traveling, embracing the beauty and adventure of exploring new places with those she loved. Her home was adorned with the delicate work of her needlepoint craft, a hobby that spoke to her patience and creativity. In quiet moments, she delighted in reading and found simple pleasure in watching her favorite TV show, Family Feud, a comforting pastime that brought smiles and laughter.
Linda’s family, who were the center of her world, remember her as a pillar of strength and unconditional love. She is survived by her devoted husband of 64 ½ years, Franklin Douglas Hollifield; her daughter, Beth Santos (Rex); and her son, Doug Hollifield, Jr. (Kelley). Her legacy lives on vibrantly through her grandchildren, Hunter Hollifield (Amy) and Griffin Hollifield (Cayley), as well as her great-grandchildren, Beau and Ava Hollifield. She was also the bonus grandmother to USAF Major Darielle "Yellie" Santos and Rylan Santos. Linda is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Treaver Potts, and sister, Egie Anthony.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mattie Louise Potts; her sister, Libby Potts Allison; and her aunt and uncle who raised her, Sadie and John Livesay. Though they have passed on, the impact of their love and guidance is woven deeply into Linda’s life and the lives she touched.
Visitation will be held on March 25, 2026, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Shives Funeral Home in Columbia, South Carolina. Following visitation, a funeral service to honor Linda’s life will take place at 2:00 PM at the same location. Her final resting place will be at the Memorial Gardens of Columbia with a burial service beginning at 3:00 PM.
Linda’s departure leaves a profound void, yet her legacy of kindness, faith, and family will continue to inspire all who knew her. She lived a life full of love and purpose, teaching those around her the true meaning of grace and devotion. Her memory will forever be cherished, and her spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of her family and friends.
