Linda Ballenger Wood, 76, of Columbia, died peacefully February 23, 2018, and is now in her eternal home with her Lord and Savior. Born on August 3, 1941, in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Marvin Ballenger and Viola Campbell. She was married to the late Thomas Paul Wood, and was a dedicated military wife, always supporting her husband throughout every aspect of life. Linda later worked for Kroger Supermarket, where she enjoyed talking to people and making new lifelong friends. She had a heart of gold, loved unconditionally and prayed daily for her family. Linda was kind, always happy and greeted everyone with a warm hug and smile. She was a member of North Columbia Church of God, and later attended Village Church.

Survivors include her daughters, Kaye (Terry) Bozeman of Columbia, Angela Wood of Columbia; grandchildren, Austin, Cara and Katelyn; great-grandaughter, Gracey; sisters, Brenda Coggins (Edward) and Judy Cook (the late Rhett Cook); brothers, Ron Ballenger (Gloria) and Danny Ballenger (Gloria); as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs. Wood will be held 12 o'clock, Wednesday, February 28th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with the Rev. Erik Estep officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Jackson National Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, from 5 until 7 o'clock, at the funeral home.
