Linwood Earl "Peanut" Mizell, 65, died Monday, August 31, 2015. Born in Plymouth, NC, he was a son of the late Lloyd Tillman Mizell and Mildred Carrow Mizell. Peanut grew up in Plymouth and, when of age, joined the US Army. He proudly served for eight years during the Viet Nam Conflict as an Infantryman and member of The Big Red One and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. After the war, he lived in Columbia, Newberry, Plymouth, and ultimately Blythewood, where he resided for the last eight years, to be near his daughter. He attended Hope Freewill Baptist Church in Plymouth and Cedar Creek Baptist Church in Blythewood.
Mr. Mizell is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Gena and Rob Dow of Blythewood; grandchildren, Alexandria Duvall of Blythewood, Alex Dow of Topeka, KS, Caleb Dow of Battle Creek, MI, Evan Dow of Blythewood, and Colton Dow of Blythewood; siblings, Robert, Ellen M. Belch, Joseph, Johnny, and Jimmy Mizell. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson, Zachary Dow; and a brother, Ernest Mizell.
The funeral service for Mr. Mizell will be held 10:30 o'clock, Friday, September 4th, at Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 1920 Cedar Creek Road, Blythewood, with Dr. James W. Thompson, III, and The Rev. James Julian Ballentine officiating. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 9:30 o'clock. Interment will follow in Ft. Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.
