Obituary

Lisa Lynn (Kalsbeck) Patrick, 56, of Columbia, SC passed away on 8/20/2022 following a courageous and long battle with cancer.

Lisa was born 1/11/1966 to Jacqueline and John Kalsbeck in Indianapolis, IN. She was a proud graduate of the University of Wisconsin, from which she received a Bachelor's of Arts degree in journalism, and the University of South Carolina, where she earned a Masters of Public Administration. Lisa worked for the South Carolina Governor's Office and the South Carolina Department of Commerce for over 31 years.

Though a Badger fan, once Lisa arrived in South Carolina she became a devoted Gamecock and volunteered for many years with the Lou Holtz Foundation. A long-time member of the Junior League of Columbia and Trinity Episcopal Church, Lisa shared her time and talents in many capacities with them.

An avid baker, Lisa was generous with her creations, providing cheese straws, cookies and other treats for charity events and sharing them with family and friends. She loved vacationing near water and sand, especially at the family retreat on Lake Michigan and in the islands of the Caribbean. Though she had not had a dog since her childhood, Lisa loved her fluffy friends and wished to one day have a "cute doodle to take to cancer centers, hospitals and nursing homes." Family and friends always came first for Lisa, who never missed a Christmas in her childhood home while her parents were living. She loved being a member of The Undercover Book Club and the deep friendships she forged there. Lisa's joyful and generous spirit touched the lives of everyone she met.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Major General (Ret. USAF) George Patrick III, siblings, Valerie (Dr. John) Pfaff and Dr. William Kalsbeck; stepchildren Jared (Patsy) Patrick, Sarah (Matt) Dryden, and Matthew (Jennifer) Patrick; nephews Adam (Brittany) Pfaff and Gregory Pfaff; step grandchildren Ethan Patrick, Isabelle Patrick, Gavin Patrick, and Julian Patrick; twin grandniece, Avery Pfaff, and grandnephew, Grayson Pfaff; uncle Gerald Bartlett, aunt Janice Boden, and uncle James Bartlett.
