Lois Irene Clark, 96, of West Columbia, entered Heaven's Gates Saturday, April 25, 2020. Born on November 8, 1923, in Belton, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Arthur Fleming and Bertha Lee Shell Duncan. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Clark was a department manager for K-Mart. She was the matriarch of her family and always hosted family gatherings with an abundance everyone's favorite foods, that always included her famous peanut butter pie, chocolate cake, and chocolate peanut butter balls. Mrs. Clark enjoyed many crafting projects and was a masterful seamstress. A devout Christian, she was a prayer warrior for her family and all her friends. Mrs. Clark loved children and taught Sunday school for countless years at First Assembly of God in Columbia. At the time of her homegoing, she was a member of Ebenezer Pentecostal Holiness Church in West Columbia.
Survivors include her children, Rebecca Patterson of Swansea, David J. Tidwell of Irmo, Marsha Hurkes of New Ellenton, Lewis Tidwell of West Columbia, Gina Percival of Irmo, and Tim Tidwell of Gaston; as well as numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, William P. Tidwell; second husband, Rev. V.L. Clark and his children, Rev. W.A. Clark, Catherine Head, and Joe Clark. She was also preceded in death by her brothers, George and Ralph Fleming, as well as her sister, Hazel Gilmore.
In light of the recent Novel COVID-19 virus, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date at 300 Senate.
