Daughter of the late Clifton Monroe Kneece and Mary Kelly Kneece, she was born in Columbia on August 20, 1920. Mrs. Wilson was married to the love of her life, Louis B. Wilson, Sr. for 58 years before his passing. She was a founding member of Dentsville Baptist Church and she helped establish Dentsville Eastern Star #273. The Lord, her family and friends were the main passions of her life. A gifted watercolorist, she was a member of the Trenholm Artists' Guild, and her paintings hang in homes and offices across South Carolina. Mrs. Wilson enjoyed gardening and photography, and she was an avid reader. As a homemaker rearing three children, she also enjoyed raising small breeds of dogs. Lois was a wonderful listener, loved being with people, and had a witty sense of humor and a contagious laugh. Her family was the happiness in her life, which included taking care of her mentally handicapped daughter, Mary Jean. Mrs. Wilson resided with her daughter Suzanne and family until her death, and she was always complimented for and will be remembered as a Southern woman, full of grace, dignity and pride.
She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Wilson Peebles; son, Louis Blease Wilson, Jr. (Linda) of Elgin; grandchildren, Clifton Wilson (Elizabeth), M. Kelly Wilson, Lois Sturges Wilson (Dr. Frank), Michelle Makarski (Daniel), Hank Skinner (Amy), Megan Elizabeth Peebles; and two great-grandchildren, Adam Louis Sturges, and expected in early 2014, Maggie Jean Skinner. Her children and grandchildren were her pride and joy! In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by her daughter, Mary Jean Wilson.
Lois appreciated her faithful and constant companions as well as their dedicated caregiving which helped enrich her daily life: Kay Woods, Brenda McQuage, Willene Session, Osie Green, Jackie Johnson and Emma Burgess. Special thanks goes to Chaplain Brett DeYoung, Dr. Erik Hartvigsen, and the nurses from Heartstrings Hospice for their continuous dedication and guidance that meant so much to her and her family as she continued to fight daily to improve her health and spirit.
