Loise Mae Lewis was born on February 12, 1940, from the union of Robert and Sedalia Stewart in Columbus, Texas. Loise accepted Jesus Christ at an early age. She was educated in the Columbus County public school system.
In 1965, Loise met the love of her life, husband, James McKinley Lewis. She was employed at AAFES on Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC for 28 years.
She departed this life on Wednesday, July 28, 2021. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her ten siblings.

(Louise) Steward; Herman Stewart, of Dallas, Texas; James Stewart (Sylvia) of Dallas, Texas; Dennis Stewart (Elaine) of Eagle Lake, Texas. Sisters; Verna O'Neal of Dallas, Texas; Victoria Inglehart of Dallas, Texas; Alice English of Dallas, Texas; Grandson; Lavery-J Thompson, Danny & Ryan Scanlon, and adopted grandson; Anderson Lane Jr. Granddaughters; Kenisha Thompson, Morgan Chappelle, Great-Granddaughters; Shahda' Jenkins, Kendyll Rufus, Raigan Wiley, and Rain Wiley.
Loise was a faithful member of Gunter's Chapel Baptist Church, where she was president of The Pulpit Aide, Mother of the Empowered Women, Assistant Superintendent of the Education Department, as well as Sunday School, and vacation Bible School teacher. In 2013, she was presented by The Midlands Coalition of Churches, The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Leadership Award for outstanding service in church and community leadership.
There were numerous lives that were impacted by her contagious smile and warm spirit.
Visitation will take place at Gunter's Chapel Baptist Church on Saturday, August 7th, at 10 o'clock. Funeral service immediately to follow at 11 o'clock. A private burial to take place on a later date.
Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel is assisting the family. Mrs. Loise Mae Lewis will be available for public visitation Thursday, August 5th, and Friday, August 6th at the funeral home. Friends and family are welcomed between normal business hours.
