Lonnie Franklin Roberts, Sr. joined our Lord and Savior on October 12, 2021 surrounded by family at home following a lengthy illness. Mr. Roberts was born in Columbia, SC on July 16, 1929 to Lonnie O. and Bessie Brown Roberts. He owned and operated Lonnie Roberts Auto Service since 1974 and retired in 2007, leaving his business in the capable hands of his sons. Mr. Roberts enjoyed fishing, traveling back country roads and hunting. In his later years, his love of the land became his focus as he plowed and planted feed lots for the deer.

Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Brenda, his children: Frankie (Tom) Robert, Melanie (Morgan) Graham, Lonnie (Adair) Roberts, Sue Johnson, Owen Roberts, Travis (Tammy) Roberts, and Kim (Amber) Roberts, his sisters Ivory Angevine and Louise Richardson, 19 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Edward Roberts, sister, Pat Stone, son Ronnie Roberts, and daughter, Catherine Roberts.

Services will be held at Shives Funeral Home, 7600 Trenholm Road Extension, Columbia SC, 29223 on Thursday, October 14, 2021with visitation at 1:00 PM and Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 2:00 PM. The Honorable Rev. Billy Simmons will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Ebenezer Holiness Baptist Church, 1008 Old Sloan Road, Columbia, SC 29223.
