Mr. Louie Newton McWaters, 83, of Columbia, died Saturday, July 13, 2013. Born in Hart County, GA on May 27, 1930, he was a son of the late Frank McWaters and Lillian Fomby McWaters.
Mr. McWaters, a retired US Army veteran, enjoyed spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Carola Maria Berger McWaters; daughter, Andrea M. Douglas (Gregg); sons, John D. McWaters (Ada), Gregory P. McWaters; grandchildren, Nathan, Adam, William, and Amanda McWaters, Jonathan and Alexander Douglas; and a brother, Bobby McWaters. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Jeffrey and Charlie McWaters; sister, Martha McWaters; and brothers, Henry McWaters, and Bill McWaters.

A funeral service for Mr. McWaters will be held, 11 o'clock, Wednesday July 17th, at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Dr., Columbia, with The Rev. Walter C. Ballenger, III officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Serenity Gardens. The family will receive friends the night prior at the funeral home beginning at 5 until 7 o'clock.
