Obituary

Louisa McMaster Burriss Adam, 53, of Chapin, SC, died on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Born on November 11, 1971, in Columbia, she is a daughter of John Hay Burriss and Rebecca Andrews Burriss.

Louisa was a graduate of Chapin High School and furthered her education at the University of South Carolina. She was employed in various strategic roles of her family business, St. Andrews Fitness Corp., which operated the Gold's & MUV Fitness locations in the Columbia area. Louisa was a charter member of Unity Church of Lake Murray.

Louisa was the best wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She was so proud of her family and loved unconditionally with her whole heart. She enjoyed nature, taking long walks with her dogs, riding the golfcart, travelling to the beach and mountains, and sitting on her back porch watching her birds. Louisa was an old soul, loved learning about history, doing crossword puzzles, and playing games with her family. She had a strong relationship with God, and her family will take comfort in knowing she is healed and rejoicing in Heaven with our Savior. She will be missed but always remembered.

Surviving in addition to her parents of Chapin are her husband, Brian B. Adam; children, Reese McMaster Adam of Chapin, Elizabeth Andrews Adam of Chapin, and Beau Buchanan Adam of Chapin; brother, John Hay Burriss, Jr. (Kayce) of Chapin; sister, Catherine Andrews Tuttle of Chapin; mother-in-law, Ruth E. Adam of Lexington; and brother-in-law, Douglas P. Adam (Jenn) of Lexington. Louisa was preceded in death by her father-in-law, David E. Adam and brother-in-law, Steven Adam.

The memorial service for Mrs. Adam will be held at 11 o'clock, Saturday, February 8th, at Chapin Presbyterian Church, 600 Old Lexington Highway, Chapin, SC with the Rev. Dr. Daniel L. Hagmaier officiating.

The family will receive guests immediately following the service at the church.
