Obituary

Louisa Lovelace Huebel, 87 passed away peacefully on Wednesday September 5, 2018 at Still Hopes Retirement Community. Born December 5, 1930, she built a lifetime of friendships and laughter before going to meet the Lord.

She was the daughter of the late John Logan Lovelace and Ethel Epps Lovelace of Florence and the granddaughter of Moultrie Epps and Loulie Shaw Epps of Lake City. She attended The University of South Carolina and was a Gamecock through and through, despite all of her sons graduating from Clemson. They will pray for her this football season.

She will be remembered as an exceptional and devoted mother to her three sons Tim, Rob and Scott. She was also a mother to more rescued animals than could be listed in these pages. She was most proud of her grandchildren Amelia, Jared, Dutch and Holden. She adored both of her daughters-in-law Katie Huebel and Holly Hannula. She is also survived by her former husband Jared M. Huebel. Jerry and Louisa, though divorced, were friends and most recently neighbors at Still Hopes Retirement Community (no funny business).

She loved all of her many friends like Tootsie and Patsy and Molly and Emma and Vi and Rhonnie and Jean and Jimmy (apologies for 10,000 omissions).

Louisa spent time after college in San Francisco and Los Angeles where she worked for CBS and met Bing Crosby and Billy Graham. She tried to kiss one of them. She later settled in Northern Virginia while married and raising her family.

She was overjoyed to return to Columbia in 1988, where she loved Eastminster Presbyterian Church, serving food for the homeless, and working hard for South Carolina Educational Television (please give!).

Every 4th of July she could be found at Pawley's Island and if you don't know where that is, that's fine with her.

More than anything, Louisa loved to make people laugh. And loved people that made her laugh. Everyone that knew her will miss that uplifting sound. It is all for you now, oh Lord.

The funeral service for Mrs. Huebel will be held 2 o'clock, Sunday, September 9th at Eastminster Presbyterian Church, 3200 Trenholm Road, Columbia with The Rev. Lynn Grandsire officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church parlor. Interment will be held 11 o'clock, Monday, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 100 Cherokee Road, Florence. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the The Animal Mission in her honor.
