Lt Col Carroll Ansel Gantt, Jr., US Air Force (Ret), 76, of Columbia, passed away on February 21, 2023. Born on December 11, 1946, in Columbia, SC, he was the son of the late Carroll Ansel Gantt, Sr. and Mozelle Kimbrell Gantt.

Mr. Gantt graduated from Columbia High School and earned his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired after 24 years of service. Since leaving active duty in 1976, he practiced law in Columbia, SC. Mr. Gantt enjoyed classic cars and collecting military memorabilia. His witty, comical personality always brought a smile to the faces of those around him.

Mr. Gantt is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Mrs. Jenny Gantt; two children, Justin Gantt (Kim) and Amanda Sawyer (Dan); grandchildren, Fenwick Sawyer and Charlotte Sawyer; and stepmother, Lucy Gantt.

The funeral service for Mr. Gantt will be held at 11 o'clock on Saturday, February 25th, at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext. Columbia, SC. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. A private burial will take place at a later date at Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
