Lucille Groome Calvo, 93, of Columbia, died Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Born April 21, 1919, in Groometown, NC, she was a daughter of the late Paul Ballinger Groome and Blanche Armfield Groome. A faithful member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Lucille was loved by all who knew her. Her favorite saying was "I love you." She will be dearly missed.
Survivors include her daughters, Lynn C. Shore and husband, Carroll, of Rock Hill, Patricia C. Billings and husband, Alan, of Chapin; her sons, Talley A. Calvo and wife, Barbara, of Tampa, FL, Paul Alexander Calvo and wife, Debbie, of Lexington; grandchildren, Angela Kirkpatrick, Lisa Dixon, Walter Dixon III, Christopher Parker, John Parker, Kelly (Jason) Wildes, Elizabeth Dial, Alexander Dial; great grandchildren, Lucy, Walker, Thompson Kirkpatrick, Michaela Dixon, Ashtin, Logan, Michael, and Erica Parker and Jahnyah Wildes; sister, Virginia G. (Ed) Moorer of Roanoke, VA; as well as numerous nephews. In addition to her parents, Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Talley Calvo; grandson, Paul Calvo, Jr.; and her brother, William A. Groome.
A graveside service for Mrs. Calvo will be held 11 o'clock, Saturday, Jan. 26th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Rd, Columbia. The Rev. Ron Brown will officiate.
