Lucille Terry Hook of West Columbia, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, May 28, 2017. Born June 20, 1920, in Sumter, SC, she was a daughter of the late John and Aline Stewart Terry. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Davis C. Hook, Sr.; a son, Gerald (Jerry) Hook; brothers, John M. Terry, Robert C. Terry; and a sister, Margaret T. Williams.

Mrs. Hook came to Columbia to attend Columbia Business College and pursued training in business which she used as the CFO and secretary at Hook Plumbing and Heating Company for most of her employment life. She was a long standing member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church where she was active in the Clyde Hendrix Circle of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Women. She played in the senior hand bell choir, was a member of the Loyal Workers Sunday School Class, and the Young at Heart group. She previously served as treasurer of the Columbia District United Methodist Women, and was involved in Each One Teach One for several years. Her hobbies included bird watching, word games, and reading. Mrs. Hook had a generous, loving spirit which she bestowed on her family and others throughout her life.

Survivors left to cherish her memory include a son, Davis Hook, Jr. (Brenda); three grandchildren, Dr. Brian S. Hook (Beth) of Asheville, NC, Lauren H. Cooper (Dr. Richard) of Baton Rouge, LA, and Dr. Jeff D. Hook (Renee) of Columbia, SC; 10 great grandchildren, Katy, Kent(Morgen), Collyn, Nicolette, Will, Noah, Sydney, Eva, Emma, and Ellis; one great-great grandson, Hudson; a sister, Betsy T. Chambers (Dr. Joe) of Charleston, SC, and a sister-in-law, Myrtle Terry of Columbia. Also surviving are several beloved nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Ms. Hook will be held 3 o'clock, Thursday, June 1st, at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church with the Rev. Kevin Cooley and the Rev. Meredith Dark officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service, beginning at 2 o'clock. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Jerry Hook Memorial Music Fund, Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169 or a charity of one's choice. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to a list of caregivers, including Carolyn, Belinda, Betty and Precious. Tika Baker and Debora Sloan loved and cared for her in her recent years which enabled her to live in her own home with exceptional care for which her family is most grateful. Gratitude is also expressed to Agape Hospice which provided assistance for the last year and ten months.
