Lucy Whitener Chadwick,86, widow of Thomas R Chadwick died Friday, August 25, 2017. Born March 14, 1931in Wilkes County, GA, she was a daughter of the late Joe Whitener and Maezell Slayton Whitener. Lucy was a member of St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church where she volunteered her time and talents as long as her health permitted. She also volunteered at Palmetto Health Baptist Hospital for 21 years. Lucy was a loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

She is survived by her son Joe; granddaughter, Jennifer A. Dewey; grandsons, James K Metze Jr. and his wife Julie, and Andrew P. Metze; great grandchildren, James K "Trey" Metze III and William L. Metze. Also surviving are a son-in-law, James K. Metze, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Renee D. Metze and several brothers and sisters.

A memorial service will be held at 11 o'clock, Tuesday, September 5th at St. Michaels & All Angels Episcopal Church with a reception to follow in Sturtevant Hall. A private interment will precede the service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church Cemetery Fund, 6408 Bridgewood Rd. Columbia, SC 29206.
