Mr. Howell died Sunday, January 28, 2018. Born January 25, 1944 in Columbia, he was the son of the late Annie Laurie Daniels Howell and Luther Cameron Howell, Jr. He graduated from Dreher High School and Wofford College, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. After college, he served in the South Carolina National Guard. Cam began his career at C W Haynes & Company. He presided over his own construction company and served in leadership roles for various real estate firms in the Midlands. After a long career in property ownership and management, he retired from Bank of America in 2004. He was Past President of the Builders and Owners Management Association of South Carolina.

Cam loved dogs, cars, water sports, fishing, sporting clays, Litchfield Beach, and Little Switzerland, N.C.—but above all, he loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elizabeth "Bit" Morris Howell; and his children, Luther Cameron Howell, IV (Jenny) of Durham, N.C. and Laurie Wells Howell of Charlotte, N.C. He had the special joy of having one grandchild, Elizabeth Wilder Howell of Durham, N.C. He is also survived by his three sisters, Marjorie H. Donaldson (Col. Benjamin L. [Ret.]), Mary Ellen H. Judson, and Christine H. Hepfer (Dr. Thomas W.); as well as his stepmother, Clarice M. Howell; beloved nieces and nephews, and several godchildren.

The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Wateree Memory Care of The Palmettos of Parklane, the Veterans Administration, and Regency Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
