Obituary

Lydia Cooper Stewart 99, of Elgin, formerly of Pickens, died Wednesday, August 22, 2018. Born March 1, 1919, in Pickens, SC, she was a daughter of the late Ephram "Cap" Alexander Cooper and Carria Hudson Cooper.

Survivors include her daughter, Carrie Earlene Stewart Fallon (Gene); grandchildren, Gary Hall (Sally), Carrie Tanner, Melissa Stewart Ernst, Angela Hoover; nine great grandchildren; four great-great grandchildren; as well as her sisters, Lucille Morgan and Margaret Burns (Perry). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Earlie Stewart; son, Tommy Stewart; siblings, Carria Lelia, Lillie Mae, Sarah Leona, Lois Ruth, Esther Lee, Velma Pearl, Ephriam Alexander, Jr., and Charlie Tom.

The funeral service for Mrs. Stewart will be held 2:00 o'clock, Sunday, August 26th, at Hillcrest Baptist Church, with The Rev. Kenneth Jackson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 o'clock. Interment will follow in Greenhaven Memorial Gardens. The Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, are in invited to serve as honorary pallbearers. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
