Mable Elaine Vaillancourt, 97, of Columbia, wife of the late Edward F. Vaillancourt, went to be with her Lord and Saviour on Thursday, November 24, 2016. She was born in Coventry, VT, a daughter of the late William H. Roy and Rose Hall Roy. Mable received her education in Newport, VT and then relocated to Bellows Falls, VT where she was employed at a shoe factory. She moved to Lowell, MA and was employed at the Atlantic Parachute Co. during WWII. Mable also worked at the Pleasant Dress Co. as a seamstress for 32 years. She was a volunteer for 17 yrs. at Palm Manor Nursing Home in Chelmsford. In October 1996, she relocated to Columbia, SC and attended Columbia Baptist Temple, where her son, Rev. Ronald LaFlam was the pastor.
She is survived by her son, Rev. Ronald W. LaFlam and his wife, Barbara (Thompson) of Columbia, SC; her daughter-in-law, Lenore (Hodgson) LaFlam; grandchildren, Kathy (LaFlam) Kendall of Lexington, SC, Brian LaFlam and his wife, Debra (Kirkley) of Leesville, SC, Rebecca (LaFlam) Hamby and her husband, Paul Hamby of Dawsonville, GA, Kimberly (LaFlam) Mooney and her husband, Paul Mooney of Holt, MI, and Bruce LaFlam and his wife, Susan (Procter). She also is survived by 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Walter A. LaFlam.
A service will be held 3 o'clock, Sunday, November 27th at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext, Columbia. The family will receive friends from 3 until 4 o'clock Saturday, November 26th, at the funeral home.
