Madeleine "Madge" L. Jeter, 91, of Columbia, died Saturday, June 24, 2017. Born in Spartanburg, SC, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Minter Lyles, Sr., and Madeleine Crews Lyles, and the wife of the late Robert Bothwell Jeter, Sr. A member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, she was a follower of Jesus Christ with a servant's heart and loved her work with the Children's Bureau, placing babies for adoption. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and caregiver. In her retirement, she enjoyed taking her friends to doctors' appointment and out to eat. She was always aware of the needs of others and helping them.

Survivors include her children, Marsha Jeter Hendry (George E.) of Columbia, Diane Jeter McGuire (Bernie) of Greensboro, GA, Robert Bothwell Jeter, Jr. of Columbia, and Thomas M. Jeter (Betsy) of Columbia; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Madge is preceded in death by her four brothers.

A service will be held at 2 o'clock, Tuesday, June 27th at North Trenholm Baptist Church. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church chapel.
