Obituary

Madeline S. DeLoach, 92, of Columbia, died Tuesday, August 27th, 2013. Born in Marion, SC, she was a daughter of the late Monie Rogers Smith and John Smith. Madeline was raised at the Thornwell Orghanage. After graduating as valedictorian, she attended Presbyterian College and Baptist Hospital nurses training. She retired from the City of Columbia Parks and Recreation as a park director and pre-school teacher. It was always a thrill for Madeline to see former students she had taught. Mrs. DeLoach was a faithful member of Main Street United Methodist Church.

Madeline was the wife of the late George R. DeLoach. She is survived by two sons: G. Robert (Marian) DeLoach, Jr. of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and John M. (Georgie) DeLoach of Chapin; two grandsons: G Robert DeLoach III and Captain Brad DeLoach, U.S.A.; and three great-grandsons. A special thank you to Brenda and Melvin Wicker, Judy Smith, as well as, the Hospice staff at Palmetto Health Richland.

The funeral service for Mrs. DeLoach will be held 1 o'clock, Thursday, August 29th, at Main Street United Methodist Church, with The Rev. Joe Cal Watson officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning 12 o'clock in the Church Parlor. Interment will follow at Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens beside her loving husband, George. Memorials may be made to Main Street United Methodist Church, 1830 Main Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
