Major Robert Wilson Pryor, US Army (Ret.), 88, of Columbia, died on Saturday, October 25, 2025. Born on August 29, 1937, in Cushing, Oklahoma, he was the son of the late Woodrow Wilson Pryor and Rebecca Aileen Wright Pryor.
He earned his bachelor's degree from East Tennessee State University and retired from the US Army. During his enlistment, Major Pryor honorably served his county during the Vietnam War, where he received many decorations for his meritorious service. Following his military career that spanned 21years, he owned and operated many businesses in the Columbia area, most notably a real estate development company and tire and battery shop. He was a member of Northeast Presbyterian Church, loved spending time with his family, outdoor adventures, and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Sandra Ellen Hughes Pryor; his daughters, Karen Rene Pryor of Swansea, SC and Andrea Lynn Black (Fiancé Earl Boone) of Lexington, SC and his sisters, Susan Osmundson and Sarah Beam. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Nita Gordon and Nancy Grills.
The funeral service for Major Pryor will be held at 12:30 o'clock, Monday, November 3rd at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia. Burial will follow at 2 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia.
The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home beginning at 11:30 o'clock.
