Marcia Smith Knight, of Blythewood, SC, passed away on June 6, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Darlington, SC to the late William Henry Smith and Nell Rose Smith. Marcia was predeceased by her sister, Sharon McElveen and Jo Anne Smith.

Marcia leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. She is survived by her son, Daniel Allen Knight Jr., her daughter-in-law, Kristen Knight, and her adored grandsons, William Blake Knight and Lucas Christian Knight.

Marcia dedicated her life to education and made a lasting impact on countless young minds. She obtained her Bachelor's degree from Francis Marion University and later earned her Master's in Education. Throughout her adult life, Marcia passionately taught at the elementary and middle school levels, nurturing and inspiring her students with her unwavering commitment to their growth and development.

Marcia found great joy in her faith and active involvement in the church community. For many years she was a dedicated member of Calvary Baptist Church in Florence, SC, where she actively participated in various groups and initiatives. In recent years, she became an integral part of Spring Valley Baptist Church in Columbia, SC, continuing her commitment to service and fellowship.

Known for her warm heart and selfless nature, Marcia touched the lives of many with her kindness and compassion. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel.

A family visitation to celebrate Marcia Smith Knight's life will be held on Monday, June 12th from 5-7 o'clock at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Rd. Ext., Columbia, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to be made in Marcia's name to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation in honor of her grandson Blake.

Marcia Smith Knight will be dearly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her soul find eternal peace.
