Marcia Ann LaBounty, 74, of Columbia, South Carolina, died Thursday, March 8, 2018. Born in Seattle, Washington on July 27, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Fredrick Roth and Charlotte Mae King. Marcia was the oldest of five children and married Donald LaBounty, MSG, in Switzerland while he was stationed in Germany. After earning a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, she served as a Department of Defense Recreation Director for Youth Services from 1968 until her retirement in 1999. In her free time, Marcia loved to knit and crochet hats for new born babies at the local hospitals. She went on to win numerous awards for her handmade creations at the state fair.
Survivors include her sisters, Paula Herriott, Dianne (Candy) Bush, Kristin Roth; and a brother, Frederick Roth, Jr. In addition to her parents, Marcia was preceded in death by her husband.
A memorial service for Ms. LaBounty is being planned for a later date. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
