Margaret Goldson Holladay, 89, of Chapin, passed away peacefully on March 29, 2014, surrounded by her caring and loving family.
She was the daughter of the late James David Goldson and Pearl Goldson Butts.
Margaret was active in her Church, College Place United Methodist, teaching, serving as a Brownie Scout Leader and helping with numerous activities over the years. She was a selfless person and always concerned about and giving to others.
Margaret retired from Allied Chemical and then had a second career with Tapps Department store until they closed and finally worked with Carolina First Bank until she was in her 80's. She has remained active during her senior years entertaining guests in her home, visiting friends and even attending monthly breakfast outings with her friends and co-workers from the bank. She has created many happy memories over the course of her long life and will be missed by many.
Margaret is survived by daughters, Linda (Willis) Jowers of Columbia, Georgie (John) DeLoach of Chapin; and son, Al (Annette) Holladay of Irmo; grandchildren, Will (Deana) Jowers, Daria (Chad) Harris, Tim (Linda) Jowers, Angela Tupper, Rachel (Robert) LeBlanc, Ben (Laura) Holladay, Brad (Rebecca) DeLoach; and 14 great grandchildren. Margaret was predeceased by her loving husband of 73 years, George A. Holladay, Sr.; brothers, Bernie B. Goldson and James David Goldson, Jr.; and sisters, Rachel Goldson Turner, Julia Goldson McFaddin and Clara Goldson Hulon.
The funeral service for Mrs. Holladay will be held at 2:00 o'clock, Thursday, April 3, 2014, at College Place United Methodist Church with The Reverend Tiffany D. Knowlin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The Family requests memorials may be made to College Place United Methodist Church, 4801 Colonial Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.
