Margaret Carol Chatham Slagle, 77, of Columbia, died on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. Born in Troutdale, VA, on April 19, 1947, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Earl and Emma Mae Brooks Chatham. Mrs. Slagle was a devoted member of Village Church at Park Street where she often served on the Kitchen Committee. She loved her family deeply, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed puzzles, watching FOX news and the Hallmark Channels.
Survivors include her son, Joe Slagle (Melissa); grandchildren, J.D. Slagle (Victoria), Cortney Wrennall (Jordan), Tanner Slagle and Hampton Slagle and Jordan Slagle; great-grandchildren, Rylan and Kason Slagle; and sister, Lucille Farmer (Jimmy). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James David Slagle, Sr.; son, James David Slagle, Jr.; and siblings, Evelyn Hall, Janice Farmer, J.B. Chatham, Harold Chatham, and infant twins who died at birth.
The graveside service for Mrs. Slagle will be held at 10 o'clock, Friday, February 14th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, with the Rev. Matthew Phillips officiating. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
