Margie Phipps Starling, 71, of Columbia, passed away Thursday, October 23, 2014. Born on September 2, 1943 in Mt. Olive, NC, a daughter of the late Owen Coleman Phipps and Rose Lee McDonald, she was a member of Capital City Baptist Church and spent many hours volunteering her time at Providence Hospital.

Survivors include her daughters, Barbara (Jeff) Ham, Jennifer (Phil) Kelly all of Lexington; a son, Donald (Jill) Starling of Orlando, FL; seven grandchildren; uncle, William Phipps of Ft. Pierce, FL. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Sandford H. "Stan" Starling.

A graveside service will be held at 10 o'clock, Monday, October 27th at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia with The Rev. Brian Hunt officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 until 5 pm Sunday afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
