Maria Teresa "Tere" Feliciano, 85, of Lexington, died on Tuesday, January 16, 2024. Born October 3, 1938, in San Juan, Puerto Rico, she was a daughter of the late Jose Luis Corchado and Fernanda Juarbe.
Ms. Feliciano was raised in Puerto Rico and later moved to New York City. She earned her certificate in Labor Relations from Cornell University and was employed as a seamstress for various textile mills. Ms. Feliciano worked tirelessly for many years until taking a leap of faith and starting her own seamstress and clothing business. Ms. Feliciano would grow her business through her tremendous dedication and her impeccable reputation for her craft. Her custom tailoring abilities helped create beautiful memories for many brides, husbands to be, and countless family members.
Ms. Feliciano was a true matriarch of her family. Even while working full time, attending college, and starting her own business, she devoted countless hours to nurturing her children. Her strength and resiliency helped mold their character and become successful in their lives. She enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially gardening. Ms. Feliciano could often be heard offering her plants countless blessings to encourage growth. She was a devout Catholic and was a parishioner of St. John Neumann Catholic Church.
Survivors include her son, Harry Feliciano (Jennifer); daughter, Nancy Mosca; grandchildren, Bruno Salgado, III, David Salgado, Michael Feliciano, Tiffany Mosca, Daniel Feliciano, and Thomas Feliciano; great grandchildren, Krystal Salgado, Christian Salgado, and Savanna Salgado; as well as her siblings, Patria Liceaga and Jorge Roman. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her life partner, Jose Miguel Arroyo; brothers, Hector Roman and Ruben Roman, and sister, Bertifana Allain.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Ms. Feliciano will be held at 12 o'clock noon on Friday, January 26th, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Road, Columbia. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said following the service at Woodridge Memorial Park, 138 Corley Mill Rd, Lexington.
The family will receive guests from 5 until 7 o'clock Thursday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia.
