Marianne Blanck, 71, of Columbia, entered into eternal rest on December 8, 2015. The daughter of Marion W. Oliver and Paytie Sue Oliver, Marianne was born in a farmhouse on September 2, 1944, in Sardis, South Carolina. She later relocated with her family to North Charleston, SC, and graduated from North Charleston High School in 1962. Pursuing a nursing degree, Marianne graduated from St. Francis Xavier School of Nursing in Charleston. Her nursing career spanned almost 50 years and included work in surgery, geriatrics, nursing training, and administration. Her nurturing and compassionate demeanor helped thousands of people, easing them through life's most difficult moments.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Blanck; her brother, Marty Oliver; her son, David Gwynne-Vaughan and his wife Margeaux; her daughter, Annie Gwynne-Vaughan and her wife Lauren Gersick; and her grandson, Henry Gwynne-Gersick.
A graveside service will be held at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery, 3129 Sardis Highway, Timmonsville, SC, on Tuesday, December 29th at 1:00 PM. The family will greet friends following the service.
