Marie Louise Angel, 81, of Columbia, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Born August 28, 1935 in New Haven, CT, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore Malin and Louise Pascella Malin. Marie was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church. She was known as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, who had a feisty spirit and was dedicated to her family and caring for her children and grandchildren. Marie enjoyed life, leisurely drives, and was an avid Braves fan. She was well liked by all who met her.
Survivors include her husband, Salvatore Angel; children, Janet Guyton (Bill), Richard Angel (Sieglinde), Dean Angel (Susie); sister, Rose Amarante; grandchildren, John Price (Halle), Heather Tucker (Joe), Christopher Angel (Rachael), Holly Angel, Jessica Angel, and Casey Angel; and 11 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she preceded in death by a son, John Angel; and sisters, Anne DeRienzo, and Evelyn Carlo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:30 o'clock, Wednesday, September 7th, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 100 Polo Rd, Columbia, with The Rev. Fr. Javier Heredia officiating. Final Commendation and Farewell Prayers will be said at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. A vigil and prayer service will be held 5 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, 7600 Trenholm Road Ext., Columbia, with visitation to follow until 7 o'clock. The family would like to thank the nurses of Compassus Hospice and Mrs. Angel's caregivers.
