Marie Sophie Weber, of Hopkins, passed away on Sunday, June 10, 2012 at the age of 89. She was born in the Dutch West Indies, now known as Indonesia. She was a survivor of 3 ½ years in a Japanese concentration camp during WWII. After the war, she moved to the Netherlands for several years. She met and married her beloved husband, the late Dr. Max Weber, and lived the remainder of her life in America. Her entire life was devoted to helping and caring for unwanted animals. A survivor of breast cancer, quadruple by-pass surgery and a near fatal car accident, Marie always returned to the care of her animals and being a strong advocate for animal welfare. She had a wonderful, full life devoted to her three children, husband and countless adopted stray dogs and cats. She was one of the first volunteers for the Animal Protection League in the 70's. Those who knew her, knew her to be the gentlest, most kindhearted and generous soul they ever met. Marie touched so many lives, it cannot be measure. We will all miss her very much.
Surviving are her children: son, Max R. Weber and wife, Penny; daughter, Dr. Caroline Weber and her husband, Frankie Davis; and youngest son, Kenneth W. Weber; 6 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
