Marion Lee Brown, 94, of Ridgeway, died on Thursday, March 19, 2026. Born in Belle, West Virginia, on December 10, 1931, he was a son of the late Ira Lee and Verda Cavendish Brown. Marion was predeceased by his loving wife of 73 years, Helen Scragg Brown, his brother, Ira Phillip Brown, his sister, Betty Lou Orme, his daughter-in-law Myriam Brown, and brothers-in-law, Primo Molinari and Warren Holbert.
Marion joined the Air Guard in West Virginia in 1949 and was activated during the Korean Conflict where he served as a P51 Fighter Squadron mechanic. Following his military service, he attended Morris Harvey College, receiving a BS in Chemical Engineering. Marion worked for DuPont in Belle, WV for ten years, moving his family to Columbia to take a position at Allied Chemical/Allied Signal where he worked until his retirement.
Marion was an active member of Mount Juliet Methodist Church in Belle, West Virginia, St. James United Methodist Church in Forest Acres, and Union United Methodist Church in Irmo. On moving to Blythewood after retirement, Marion and Helen were active members of Trinity United Methodist Church. Throughout Marion’s faith journey, he served in many administrative roles, he was member of the Chancel Choirs, Quartets, Older Adult choirs, Sunday School classes, Bible Studies, and Senior Groups.
Survivors include his children: Joyce Fowler (Bobby), Robert Brown (Patty Frady), Lana Branham (Ken), and Beverly Cobb (Rhys); grandchildren, Shannon, Katy, Kristi, Buck, and Lizzy; eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild; his siblings, Glen Brown, Ann Holbert, and Lucille Molinari; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A private burial for Marion will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
