Marion (Marty) Oeland Daughtry, 71, of Blythewood, passed away on Thursday, February 5, 2026. Born in Columbia, S.C. in the Keenan Terrace Community of Eau Claire, on November 6, 1954, he was the son of the late Vernon Oeland Daughtry and Helen Marie Walker Daughtry.
Marty was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was also a beloved brother, uncle and cousin known for his ready smile, quick wit and his light hearted competitive spirit.
Marty was an avid outdoorsman and a life long traditional bowhunter. Among his bow hunting successes were buffalo, moose, deer, boar, texas dall sheep, bobcat, coyotes, and turkey.
Marty enjoyed spending time with his family and sharing his love of the bow with not only his grandchildren but any children who happen to come to the house. He was a patient teacher, always praising and encouraging their efforts. He loved teaching his grandson Morgan to ride his first bicycle, taking his grandson Landon and granddaughter Ari on their first hunt and tirelessly answering his granddaughter Madi's endless questions.
Marty had a 47-year career with SCE&G/SCANA in the survey department. In surveying for future transmission power lines, he walked a large part of their 22,000 square mile territory during that time.
Survivors include his wife of 47 ½ years, Terri Lyn Schwartz Daughtry, son Ben Daughtry (Terra), Kathryn Leno (Steven), grandchildren Landon, Ari, Madi and Morgan, his sisters Dr. Deborah Leverette (Dennis) and Rebecca Haywood (Charles) and a large number of nieces, nephews and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his faithful canine companion of 16 years, Lukah.
A reception to celebrate and remember Marty's life will be held from 2 - 4 o'clock, Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Fabel Farms, 1208 Hinnants Store Rd., Winnsboro, S.C. 29180. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
