Mr. Marion Joe Funderburk, 87, of Gaston, died on Thursday, December 20, 2012. Born on September 22, 1925, in Lancaster, SC, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Funderburk and Flossie Lee McManus.
A highly decorate US Army veteran, he served in the European Theater, during WWII and the Korean War prior to his retirement.
Survivors include his niece, Frances Young; nephews, Ronnie Ruth, and Max Funderburk, Jr.; and numerous great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carolyn F. Wishert, Flora "Johnnie" F. Ruth, May C. Funderburk, and Max Cleveland Funderburk, Sr.
A graveside service will be held at 1 o'clock, Saturday, December 22nd, Lakeview Memory Gardens, 1774 US Highway 321, York, SC, with Pastor Tony Grant officiating. Shives Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family.
