Marion Franklin Smith, 66, of Columbia, died Thursday, October 8, 2015. Born in Edgefield, he was a son of the late James Richard and Mary Bruce Smith. Marion served in the US Coast Guard for 10 years. He worked for many years in maintenance at Landmark Apartments and Wildewood Downs. He also volunteered with SQ Rescue, where he loved saving dogs' lives.

Survivors include his sister, Anna Inbody (Ed); nieces, Missy Blackmon, Jessica Inbody, Kelli Gowder and Melanie Holliman; nephews, Ricky, Larry and William Inbody; and several great nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Marion was preceded in death by brother, Jimmy Smith and sister, Brucie Bohannon.

A graveside service for Mr. Smith will be held 11 o'clock, Tuesday, October 13th, at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family. Memorials may be made to SQ Rescue, PO Box 291450, Columbia, SC 29229.
