Marion Meckert Wright, 84, of Columbia, passed away on Friday, February 14, 2014. Born in Sussex, New Jersey on September 5, 1929, Mrs. Wright was a daughter of the late Henry and Edna Decker Meckert. She was an avid Gamecock fan, and was regarded by her children as the rock of their family. Always thought of as a true matriarch, she was dearly loved and will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her daughter, Doraleen (Red) Johnson of Elgin; her sons, Bruce Wright of Lexington, Charles Wright, Jr., Denis (Hilde) Wright, and Mark Wright, all of Columbia; her sister, Delores Wright of Gilbert; her brother, Stephen Meckert of New Jersey; grandchildren, Dorion, Devon, Kelsey, Logan Auston, Morgan, Amanda and Jay; great grandchildren, Allie and Tyler; and her beloved pet, Gus. In addition to her parents, Marion was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Wright, Sr.; and her brother, Henry Meckert.

A private memorial service for Mrs. Wright will be held on Sunday, February 16, 2014. The family invites memorials be made to the American Lung Association, 1817 Gadsden Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
