Mr. Martin Edward Alexander, 94, of Columbia, formerly of Ocala, FL, died Sunday, October 30, 2016. Born on April 2, 1922 in Plainview, Texas, he was a son of the late Tilmon C. Alexander and Ruth Ione Dodge Alexander. Mr. Alexander honorably served as a pilot in the US Air Force, and was a veteran of WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He retired after 29 years of dedicated service, receiving numerous awards and commendations, including the French Flying Wings. Martin enjoyed working with electronics and playing golf, and was a member of the Ocala Men's Golf Association. He was also a Shriner, and a member of the Retired Officers' Association, and Disabled American Veterans. Martin deeply valued faith, family, and service to country and he leaves a legacy of love and devotion to others.
Martin is survived by his wife of 72 years, Jane "Betty" E. Alexander; son, Roy E. Alexander (Vicki); daughter, Patricia A. Naimola (Dennis); grandson, Wayne A. Alexander; granddaughters, Melissa D. Plumlee, and Megan P. Williams (Justin). In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, R. Frank "Chip" Alexander.
