Obituary

Martin "Marty" Gladden went peacefully home to Jesus on November 2, 2024 at age 78.

Born on October 17, 1946 he was a son of the late Vern Tsouprake and Bill Gladden. Marty was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and a proud Air Force Veteran at McEntire Air Base. He loved teaching all the guys of his family how to fix cars and how to tackle various house projects. He loved his breakfast at Lizards Thicket with the two Charlies and the Lutheran Men's Group. He loved camping and fishing at the beach, road trips, and he cherished the many talents of his three grandchildren. He was deeply committed to his faith and his church, St. Luke's Lutheran, in Olympia where he was a member for 46 years; he served as an usher, was on the council and volunteered his time frequently to help with various projects around the church. He and his warmth and kindness will be missed by everyone who knew him.

In addition to his parents, Marty was preceded in death by his sister, Dianne Fitzpatrick. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Gail Gladden; son, Mark Gladden (Gwen); daughter, Carey Blizzard; three grandchildren, Brittani Gladden, Calli Gladden, and Logan Blizzard; and siblings, David Gladden, Jackie Glew, and Debbie Mcguire. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The honorary pallbearers will be the Lutheran Men's Group.

The funeral service for Mr. Gladden will be held at 1 o'clock, Friday, November 8th at St. Luke Lutheran Church, 1127 Olympia Ave., Columbia, SC. The burial will follow at 3 o'clock at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd., Columbia, SC.
