Marvin L. LeGrand, 86, of Columbia, died Sunday, July 21, 2013. Born April 25, 1927 in Columbia, he was a son of the late Louie Louis and Bonnie Griffin LeGrand. A US Navy veteran of World War II, Marvin served on the USS Savannah. Following his time in the military, he owned and operated LeGrand's Gulf. Marvin was a member of Northeast Wesleyan Church.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley Norton LeGrand; daughter, Diane LeGrand Black; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; brothers, Horace, Elton, LeLand, and Laverne LeGrand. In addition to his parents, Mr. LeGrand was preceded in death by his son, Leonard Harold LeGrand; brothers, Alvin and Melvin LeGrand; sisters, Myrtis LeGrand, Elise LeGrand Garwys, and Alma LeGrand Padgett.
The funeral service for Mr. LeGrand will be held at 1:30 o'clock, Wednesday, July 24th, at Greenlawn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel, with The Rev. Cecil Bayne officiating. Burial will follow on the cemetery grounds. The family will receive friends prior to the service in the mausoleum chapel beginning at 1 o'clock.
