Mary Louise Brown Luthren, 74, of Lexington, died on Friday, February 7, 2025. Born June 20, 1950, in Winnsboro, SC, she was a daughter of the late Edward H. Brown and Macy Bass Brown. Mrs. Luthren retired from The South Carolina Hospital Association with over 30 years of dedicated service. Following her first career, she worked as an interior designer for Strobler Home Furnishings and a concierge at Wellmore in Lexington. Mrs. Luthren was a devoted member of Fair Lawn United Methodist Church for more than 54 years, where she was involved in many church activities and served on numerous committees.
Mrs. Luthren enjoyed time with close friends, and especially looked forward to lunch dates, which she scheduled several times each week. She took time away from work while each of her grandchildren were infants, and provided exceptional care for them before they started daycare. They were the apple of her eye, and she spent as much time with them as possible. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping not only for her own pleasure, but for friends and potential clients. She was a true giver and loved to see the joy that her efforts provided.
Survivors include her devoted husband of 53 years, George Taylor Luthren; sons, Britt E. Luthren (Brittany) of Irmo and Jonathan T. Luthren (Danielle) of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Bennett Luthren, Banks Luthren, and Emerson Luthren; as well as her sister, Annie Ruth Lyles (Woodrow) of Winnsboro, SC. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Ogburn.
The memorial service for Mrs. Luthren will be held at 11o'clock, Thursday, February 13th, at Fair Lawn United Methodist Church, 9203 Wilson Blvd, Columbia, SC 29203 with Pastor Jeremy Howell officiating. The family will host a reception immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.
Her family would like to thank the clinicians and staff of SCOA, Duke University Hospital, and especially Agape Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion, and a special gratefulness to Karen and Shy.
Memorials may be made to Fair Lawn United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
