Mary Cason Campbell of Columbia, died Tuesday, September 13, 2016. The service will be held at 11 o'clock, Monday, September 19th at First Presbyterian Church. A private family burial will precede the service. The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, September 14th from 5 until 7 o'clock, at the home of Louie and Dorothy Cason, 2920 Gervais Street, Columbia. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
Born in Columbus, GA on March 21, 1923, the former Mary Dudley Martin was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Catlett Martin, Jr (Mary Dudley), who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, John C. Martin, III, Frank D. Martin and William H. Martin, all of Columbus, GA; and a granddaughter, Dorothy Ehrlich Walker who died in 2003.
Mrs. Campbell was educated at Shorter College and at the University of Georgia. In 1942, she married Lt. Louie Lander Cason, of Williamston, SC. After his return from two years in the South Pacific, they lived in Augusta, GA, for two years, followed by 38 years in Atlanta. Following her husband's death, she moved to Columbia, SC, where all three of her children live. Four years later, she married Raymond Lowell Campbell who died in 2004.
Mrs. Campbell was a well-known interior designer with many clients in Columbia and in Atlanta. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, The Junior League, Colonial Dames in SC and Forest Lake Club.
Surviving are her three children and their spouses, Elizabeth Cason Harmon, Louie Lander Cason, Jr. (Dorothy Walker) and Joann Cason Walker (Claude, Jr.) all of Columbia; five grandchildren, George Thomas Harmon, V (Donna-Leigh) of Fort Mill, SC, Louie Lander Cason, III (Leigh), William Hammond Cason, II (Jeri), Frank Walker Cason (Kristin) all of Columbia, SC, Mary Martin Walker Roth (Richard, III) of New Orleans, LA; also 12 great grandchildren, Edward Thomas Harmon, Audie Leigh Harmon, Leighton Griggs Cason, Caroline Walker Cason, Elizabeth Crenshaw Cason, William Hammond Cason, III, Frank Walker Cason, Jr., Claude Anderson Cason, Jane Martin Cason, Richard Joseph Roth, IV, Claude Walker Roth, and John Martin Roth.
