Obituary
Mary Beth Carson, 63, of Columbia, SC, passed away Sunday, April 2, 2023 at MUSC Hospital in Columbia after a brief illness.
Ms. Carson was the sister of Kathryn "Kitty" Carson Howard of Columbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Sgt. Maj. John H. Carson and Helen Fiesel Carson of Jacksonville, NC; and her brother, John J. Carson, of Greenville, NC.
Born in Wiesbaden, Germany, on March 10, 1960, Ms. Carson was a 1978 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 1996 graduate of Columbia College (Columbia, SC) where she received a Bachelor of Arts in English. At the time of her death, she was the administrative assistant to the president of Original Blue Ribbon Taxi of Columbia.
Mary Beth will be remembered by family and friends for the intelligence, whit and her love of reading, cooking and her many pets.
Mrs. Carson was very fond of the British Royal family, so a celebration of her life will be held at her sister's home in May in conjunction with the occasion of the Coronation of Charles, III of England. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that contributions be made to the Columbia Pet Shelter, 127 Humane Ln, Columbia, SC 29209; or to the charity of your choice.
